ADRIANA MARGRIET GRANT
Oil
I grew up on a tulip farm on a windy island in the Netherlands, where drawing came naturally to me. I filled countless notebooks with doodles. Over the years, I explored various creative paths, drawing inspiration from each one. When I was introduced to realism here in Virginia nearly two decades ago, it set me on my current artistic journey. I studied under some of the finest artists, including Patricia McMahon Rice and Robert Liberace.
Since moving from Warrenton to Winchester two years ago, I have immersed myself in atelier training, culminating in my studies at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy in 2025.
I have participated in numerous exhibitions, won awards, taught art, and taken on commissions. I have a passion for portraiture and have been a member of the Portrait Society of America for many years. I enjoy accepting portrait commissions and working with collectors. In addition, I paint still lifes and work en plein air.
My primary medium is oil, but I also enjoy working with pastel, watercolor, and various types of pencils. I like to mix things up from time to time to keep my work fresh. My goal is to create artwork that demonstrates mastery of skill, endures the test of time, and simply brings joy and beauty into the world. Alongside my more serious painting in the studio, I continue to fill sketchbooks and love the experience of plein air painting, even if it is just to feel the wind on my face.
