LISA LANGE
Pottery
I have been working with clay for over 30 years, creating wheel-thrown and hand-built pieces using both stoneware and porcelain clay bodies. I love the tactile nature of working with clay, and the meditative rhythm of wheel-throwing. I combine art, craft, and function in my work, and am drawn to create both functional and decorative forms that focus on color, texture, and pattern.
My studio - Lot 4 - is the culmination of a dream I've had ever since art school. Lot 4 Studio is named after the piece of land my husband and I purchased on San Juan Island in Washington State in 2007 - it was 'Lot 4.' We moved back to Virginia in 2024. I take inspiration from the world around me, and find living in the Virginia countryside helps me to connect with nature and informs my work.
I have a fine art degree with a concentration in sculpture, and a Masters degree in Communication.
